RIPTA to Temporarily Reduce Service Statewide Due to Historic Workforce Shortage

🗓️ September 29, 2022 - Service Changes Will Take Effect beginning Saturday, October 22, 2022 and No Routes Will Be Eliminated Early morning, night, weekend and holiday service will not be impacted Facing an unprecedented labor shortage, the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will temporarily reduce service frequencies beginning Saturday, October 22, 2022.

🗓️ September 27, 2022 - The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour Route 50 (Douglas Ave./Bryant University), Route 55 (Admiral/Providence College), Route 56 (Chalkstone Ave.) and Route 57 (Smith St.) in the downtown Providence area from Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 9 am to Sunday, October 2, 2022 at 5 pm

RIPTA Service Will Operate Holiday Schedule on Monday, October 10, 2022 in Honor of Columbus Day

🗓️ September 26, 2022 - The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will run a Sunday/Holiday service schedule on Monday, October 10, 2022, in honor of Columbus Day. All RIPTA offices, except for the Newport Transportation Center, will be closed on Monday, October 10, 2022, in celebration of the holiday.

RIPTA to Detour Nineteen Routes in Providence To Accommodate the IGT Downtown 5k On Sunday, September 18, 2022

🗓️ September 16, 2022 - All routes are to expect minor delays around Kennedy Plaza between 9:15 AM to 11:15 AM Providence, Rhode Island, September 15, 2022 — The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) will detour nineteen bus routes in the downtown Providence area on Sunday, September 18, 2022, in order to accommodate the IGT Downtown 5K Road Race.
